Sanshin Tigers is comprised of 3 exchange students from Japan (Aki, Manabu, Yuji) complimented by members of Toronto punk band “Mother Nature’s Candy”. Their name pays homage to Manabu’s favorite baseball team of the same name.
Music was already a common ingredient for this energetic sixsome as both Manabu and Yuji have musical roots in Japan. What started as a fun fusion of culture and music turned out to be a sublime concoction of Japanese creativity and punk-ness.
Sanshin’s energy can be heard piercing through their rendition of C.Lauper’s “Time after Time” and moreso in their upbeat original “I Can Do It”.
