Happily Never After
(Music: Phil Mark, Lyrics: Elena Naņez)
When I'm alone
Echoes get much louder
Memories perk
This sweet n' low survival
Across the water
I still hear our laughter
You were there always, my love
The final piece
You were in every puzzle
Made me so clear
I'm not complex after all
Take example
Make it simple
You were there always, my love
I didn't see
No one else could breathe and make me whole
So much to say to you
You're the one that I adore forevermore
Ante'd up
To bastard twist of fate
Who stole you
From the words you've waited for
Took the gamble
Vulnerable
So alone today, my love
... make it matter
....... happily never after

"Happily Never After" (HNA) -- Jules
For a song that excels in energy HNA's lyrics are actually quite languid in nature.
It's intended originally to portray a long distance relationship that had gone awry.
For once, it's not because of a relationship-gone-sour scenario but more as a consequence of 'death'.
Death of a loved one could be especially tragic if both parties involved are solitary individuals.
Such is the case of the characters in HNA. They are, literaly, hundreds of miles apart. Their professions and circumstance could not allow for a compromise for them to be together.
Yet their affection stays as dense. Long distance relationships, such as this, happens a lot these days. We're living in a world that thrives on 'dead-lines' breeding an increasingly 'overworked' population. Administering such a relationship is very difficult and would be the ultimate 'lithmus test' of the committed.
In time, it came to the point that they were just too busy or too preoccupied to find the time to communicate to one another. Too busy trying to 'fit' in a new society or perhaps a 'new life'.
Its a sad consequence but, as a matter of fact, it does happen. Until one day, breaking news of an accident suddenly changes the fabric of each one's way of life.
Ante'd up ...
to bastard twist of fate
who stole you
from the words you've waited for
took the gamble
vulnerable
so alone today, my love ...
The surviving partner couldn't cope with the guilt of neglect. Burdened with such grief and guilt came 'denial'.
This perhaps is the most interesting and expected side-effect of such an incident. A real test of one's focus is this. Just maybe if, from this, we can all relate and learn.
Just maybe if we all could live happily ever after .... never ... after.
