Radio Insect Records (RiR) is proud to announce its fifth annual Buzzfest installment to take place at the legendary Lee’s Palace on Sunday, August 16, 2009. Tickets are currently sold for a paltry $10 CDN. RiR’s 2009 Buzzfest promises to be bigger and fresher than any of its previous years with never-before-seen acts. Below is a synopsis of what you would expect to see at RiR’s 2009 Buzzfest.

[Monet] -- We can’t be anymore excited for the debut performance of our newest talent aptly named Monet (pronounced mho - net). She is on schedule to release an RiR produced three song maxi-single late this year through iTunes. It will contain a couple of remakes and one original. At least two of the remakes will be performed at this year’s Buzzfest. Those two songs are guaranteed to turn heads with its unique style and arrangement. This and Monet’s angelic voice, it’s shock and awe.

[Sharen] -- A talent powerhouse. She’s known in the circuit as the former vocalist of the band Shades of Brown. Although now Sharen casts an intimidating shadow on her former self, musically, she’s matured beyond her years. More importantly, she has honed and mastered the skills of effective songwriting and performance. Her debut performance with her very own band will be an experience you won’t want to miss.

[Subtle Freefall, SF] -- Since their apparent formation, mid 2008, Mark De Leon, SF’s brainchild, has transformed SF into something that would certainly be a future darling of power-pop music in their native Philippines. If anything could accurately describe this four-piece band it would be "ear candy". Diversity is also ingrained in SF’s songs. How they fuse different genres and morph them into a concoction of a song defies any pre-conceived music category and is a specialty inherent of the SF sound formula. Lend an ear and catch a glimpse of SF before they become household names.

[The iDentity Crisis, iDC] -- iDC is RiR’s jewel, it’s golden egg. Paul Castro, iDC’s brainchild, has been with RiR since inception. For almost 7 years now iDC has done nothing but gather praises whenever and wherever they gig. iDC currently owns the most songs and albums recorded and released under RiR, 2 full albums, one Christmas EP, and counting. All their songs and albums, except their first, are distributed by RiR globally through iTunes. iDC is also currently getting air time on various US-based radio stations and websites. If you’re into music and would like to pursue it in the near future, let iDC be your role model. You can’t go wrong.

[Circle’s Corner, CC] -- Made up of members from previously active bands CC started out as a group that exclusively only played covers. The songs they used to cover were tailored so as to be performed in an acoustic setup complete with ’cajon’ as drums and percussions. Once they began creating originals as a group was the moment they showed their true colors. Their sound is so hard to classify since they range from power-ballads to rap-core music types. CC’s musical diversity is its strength, simplicity is its framework.

[Youth For Sonic, YFS] -- Formed late 2008, a relatively new band that exudes maturity beyond their years. Their first original "Kung" captivated the outfits at RiR and booked them for recording almost immediately. The result of the recording could one day grace the Philippines airwaves in the not too distant future. It’s catchiness and crafty arrangement will be hard to miss and get you singing and tapping in no time at all.

[Sounds Like Scieris, SLS] -- Another of RiR’s priced jewels SLS continues to captivate even the most seasoned musician. Their musical aptitude and prowess have been the envy of a lot of local talents. A husband and wife team whose band name incorporates the name of their first born. Having had at least three transformations their sound remains preserved no matter who backs them up. A testament of how meticulous they are of their incredibly complex sound. One thing about SLS that’s guaranteed, like wine, they only get better with time. Watch them at their best yet at Buzzfest 2009.

[Bluer Than Sky, BTS] -- This dynamic power-punk trio will surely captivate you regardless of the amount of alcohol you’ve consumed. BTS never fails to satisfy even the faint. Although we have never tried it, BTS may very well have the ability to raise the dead. Let us prove it to you at the show.
