 Describe how THIS started ?
Paul,Ian, and Chino met in high school and performed at talent shows but nothing outside of that until joining for a CNE competition under the name Onset which featured a different singer named Mark. After the competition Onset played a talent show but that was about it. In the beginning of 2003 Paul, Ian, Chino, Eric and Carlos began THIS. which was not the official name until 6 months later when t-shirts were made. Eric and Carlos within the last 3 yrs of being part of THIS left to pursue other goals. Replacing Eric on Bass in Jan 2005 was Darryl. Since then THIS has performed every week in 2005 since February. Playing all over Ontario and in April New York International Music Festival. I JUST GOT BACK FROM NORTH BAY GREAT CANADIAN BAND CHALLENGE. KICK ASS SHOW
 As individuals were any of you pursuing music prior to joining THIS ?
Paul and Darryl played in a band called GLIB since grade 6. The band lasted until 2002. The band recorded a demo and a full length album at Deschamps Studios. Ian and Chino played in a band before THIS together but I cannot remember the name of it. Chino also played in a Metal band also the name I cannot remember. Chino is no longer a part of that band though. Chino does play in his church youth group band. We have a Sept 10th show in a church or something? Darryl after the breakup of this played with Katie Griffith who is like a Sarah mCglauglin kinda artist.
 Did you grow up in a household where music was plentiful ?
All the band members grew up with some or all members of the family being musically gifted in some way.
 How would you describe your music ?
We play songs that your friends can jump around to, your parents can appreciate and songs that make your girlfriends cry.
 Who are your influences in music ?
Foo Fighters, Dreamtheatre, Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, and alot more ...
 When you compose your music, how does it start as ? ... Does it start with a beat, a melody, an accidental chord progression ? How ?
I either sit in my backyard,cottage or the beach or wherever and strum away and wait until I hear something. Sometimes I have actually heard a song or a riff in my head and went home picked up the guitar and figured out the riff and went from there. As for Ian I am not sure...........but I assume Chino hears drums in his head.
 What is your background in music ? did you have any formal training ? or are you self taught ?
I can play - Piano, Guitar, Drums, Trombone, Violin, Penny Whistle, and some others mostly self-taught
I believe Ian and Darryl are self taught maybe had a friend or family memeber help em out with the first few chords and go from there.
Chino is taking lessons for drums now and is brilliant at what he does. I enjoy learning new things from him when he talks about his lessons.
 As independent musicians, what do you think is the most important lesson you've learned about the current music industry and how this could be used to educate others ?
The only way in my eyes to succeed is by doing the HARD WORK that means playing out of town and playing frequently, recording, promoting, videos, websites, all the typical bullshit that bands have but making those things unique. HAVE FUN, MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT IS A BUSINESS SO MAKE SURE EVERYONE ELSE IS ON THE SAME LEVEL YOU ARE. It is easy to find musicians but it's hard to find ones that are talented and have the guts to make sacrifices to fulfill the dream.
 As musicians, what are your future plans at this point ?
At this point we plan on releasing our album AGO3A0 and hope to get radio/tv(video) airplay and play shows to support the album. We are going to be playing as much as we can and keep creating songs that we like and others will like.
