Biography:
Ever since their debut performance in 2000, THE iDENTiTY CRiSiS (THE iDC) has been rockin' coffee houses, clubs, and various venues accross the GTA. The name itself is a play on words, referring to the fact that the band can't quite find one label to describe their musical style. Hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, Kenneth Nofuente (lead vocals), Mark Ansara (drums), Richard Beer (bass guitar), Harbir Mahoon (percussion), and Paul Castro (guitars/keys/vocals) combine influences ranging from Brian McKnight to Tool, Jamiroquai to the Beastie Boys (and all points in between) in order to blend their own brand of groove. One day, the band hopes to bring groove back into the forefront of the music industry. But the music isn't the only main focus of the band. The lyrics also play a very important role in the (pardon the pun) identity of THE iDC. "Not too many artists focus on the music as much as the lyric...a lot of times, u have a well written song with a pretty weak backline", says Nofuente, who along with Castro, are the primary songwriters. "We're trynna focus on both". "Personally, I'd like the band to reach new heights, and to be one of the most influential bands in music history", says Castro. And they may be taking their first babystep in that direction. Three years after conception, working with 4 different producers, the band managed to take the raw scraps, and release "THE EP" in 2002. But finally, the band is about ready to release the debut album. And with the help of RADIOINSECT RECORDS/TEGANCAT RECORDS, the studio effort will hopefully turn some heads. The record will have "a little bit of everything...hiphop, funk, reggae, house, rock, soul..." Hopefully, there will be something for everybody.
