Biography: The band’s formation came around late 2003, the year of ‘metal-rap’. With the collective urge to resurrect and reinvent the 90's ‘grunge’, Cro8 was formed. By associating ‘screamo’ elements to the mix, helping to 'modernize' their grunge influence, Cro8 helped mold a sonic identity all their own. Through their driving melodies, angst laden vocal screams, and mixed with a hard-edged sound that will swallow you whole, Cro8 concocts a mixture of aural emotions which they feel should be what music is about. Their lyrics are based on society’s ups and downs. From abortion to religion, survival to death, Cro8 tunes into the struggles our society is facing today. In songs like “Fetus Revenge” (a testimony to abortion) … ‘When it comes to new life, there is no such thing as an accident’, states lead vocalist Jayson Soliven. The band lives on the ideal that life itself is a ‘treasure’ and should be treated as such no matter what the circumstances are. For the songs, “In The Name of the Serpent” and “Cutting my Angel’s wings”, Cro8 questions religion and faith. Cro8 does not shy away from being too personal. Jayson, for example, wrote about his struggles of losing his father at such an early age and the persistent longing of what its like to have one. Cro8 leaves its audience wondering where they’ll venture next lyrically. One thing is for sure, whatever comes out of it will be the documented experience of someone's harsh reality.
